Houthis Claim Attack on Saudi Arabia's Strategic Oil Pipeline
The Houthis claimed they had targeted Saudi Arabia's East-West Crude Oil Pipeline, which transports crude oil to the Red Sea coast.
The Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen once again targeted Saudi Arabia. The Houthis claimed that they had targeted the East-West Crude Oil Pipeline, which connects the Abqaiq oil fields on Saudi Arabia's eastern coast to the Red Sea port of Yanbu on the country's western coast. Saudi Arabia has not issued a statement regarding the attack, and it is not known whether the pipeline sustained any damage.
Saudi Arabia had redirected its crude oil exports through the East-West Crude Oil Pipeline to Yanbu in order to bypass attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
"Several drones launched from Iraq were destroyed"
Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Defense had announced that several unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) had been launched from Iraq toward the Kingdom. In a statement, the ministry said:
"Ministry of Defense Spokesman Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki announced that air defense systems had intercepted and destroyed several UAVs in recent hours that were attempting to target oil facilities in the Eastern Province and Riyadh. Brigadier General Al-Maliki stated that these terrorist attempts originated from Iraqi territory and were carried out by Iran-backed terrorist militias. Al-Maliki added that Saudi Arabia has the right to protect itself and its capabilities and reserves the right to respond at the appropriate time and place."
