CMA CGM Ship Hit in the Strait of Hormuz Could Be Sent for Scrapping
CMA CGM San Antonio may be scrapped after missile damage in Hormuz as Gulf security risks persist.

rench container shipping company CMA CGM has announced that its vessel, CMA CGM San Antonio, which was struck by a missile in the Strait of Hormuz in May, suffered severe damage and is being considered for scrapping.
The company's Chairman and CEO, Rodolphe Saade, said that several crew members were injured in the attack and that the vessel was escorted to a safe location after being stranded in the Strait of Hormuz for weeks.
Saade stated that, due to the current security conditions, CMA CGM does not plan to send new vessels to the Gulf for the time being. While some of the company's 14 vessels that were in the Gulf when the Iran war began have already left the region, efforts are underway to safely withdraw the remaining ships.
One of the world's largest container shipping companies, CMA CGM said it is closely monitoring the security risks in the Strait of Hormuz and will continue its operations in the region in line with the prevailing conditions.
