DP World’s maritime services division, Shipping Solutions, has introduced “DP World London,” the first methanol dual-fuel container vessel added to its fleet as part of its goal of low-emission maritime transport.

Shipping Solutions, operating under DP World’s Marine Services division, held a naming ceremony for the new container vessel DP World London in Aarhus, Denmark. The vessel represents one of the latest steps in the company’s fleet modernization efforts as part of its goal of creating more resilient and lower-carbon supply chains.

The ceremony held in Aarhus was also significant in terms of Shipping Solutions’ history. The company was founded in the same city in 1977 under the name Unifeeder. Today, as part of DP World’s Marine Services portfolio, Shipping Solutions provides feeder and short-sea shipping services across various trade corridors, particularly in Europe.

1,250 TEU Capacity

Built in China, DP World London was delivered in April 2026. Owned by Germany-based Elbdeich Reederei, the vessel is operated by DP World Shipping Solutions and sails under the Portuguese flag.

The 148-meter-long vessel has a capacity of 1,250 TEU. Equipped with a five-cylinder main engine, DP World London also features Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) technology to contribute to emissions reduction and compliance with international environmental standards. The vessel will operate on a Northern Europe service.

First Methanol Bunkering Carried Out in Rotterdam

Designed as a methanol dual-fuel vessel, DP World London completed its first methanol bunkering operation in Rotterdam on June 25, 2026. Unibarge provided the bunkering service, while Methanex supplied the methanol.

The addition of the vessel to the fleet stands out as part of DP World’s investments in lower-emission maritime transport. Through methanol dual-fuel technology, the company aims to offer its customers more flexible and lower-emission transportation options while strengthening the connectivity of its maritime network in Northern Europe.
