Founded in Panama in 2013 and managing its global operations through its Istanbul branch, GN Group offers an integrated structure under one roof, ranging from ship management and project transportation to digital solutions and sustainability-focused operations. With an active and dynamic fleet of approximately 400,000 DWT, operational presence in more than 20 countries, and a network of over 100 partners, GN Group not only gains scale but also commercial agility, according to Deputy General Manager Ali Aliyev. “This structure allows us to position quickly across different routes, provide suitable tonnage according to customer needs, and offer reliable planning advantages for cargo owners. Our competitive advantage does not come only from the size of the numbers, but from our ability to manage this capacity efficiently and in a controlled manner,” he says.

How do you define GN Group’s position in the sector?

As GN Group, we position ourselves not only as a transportation company but also as an integrated maritime solutions partner. Established in Panama in 2013 and managing global operations through our Istanbul branch, we provide ship management, chartering, technical services, and crew solutions under one roof. This approach gives us both operational flexibility and the ability to offer end-to-end services to our customers.

At the point we have reached today, three main factors define GN Group’s position in the industry: safe operations, digital transformation, and sustainable growth. We do not see our customers merely as parties we serve, but as long-term business partners. Thanks to this perspective, we stand out as a brand that inspires confidence, produces solutions, and adapts rapidly to changing market conditions in both fleet management and project-based transportation.

What advantages does your fleet size and cargo diversity provide?

Cargo diversity and our operational geography are among GN Group’s strongest competitive advantages. Thanks to our fleet focused on bulk carriers and general cargo vessels capable of carrying different types of cargo, we can offer more flexible and tailor-made solutions to our customers. Being active in different cargo segments enables us to respond more quickly to market demand and move more agilely under changing commercial conditions.

Our active and dynamic fleet of approximately 400,000 DWT, our operational presence in more than 20 countries, and our network of over 100 reliable partners provide us not only with scale but also commercial agility. This structure allows rapid positioning across different routes, the ability to provide suitable tonnage according to customer needs, and reliable planning advantages for cargo owners. Our competitive edge comes not only from the scale of our numbers but from our ability to manage this capacity efficiently and in a controlled manner.

How do you manage your ship management system?

At GN Group, we approach ship management as a holistic service area. By integrating technical management, crew planning, crew recruitment, crew training, and procurement processes, we provide our customers with cost control, operational continuity, and higher efficiency. In particular, through our digital infrastructure, we accelerate processes in cargo tracking, crew management, and procurement, reduce manual workload, and improve decision-making quality.

One of the key differentiators we have developed on the crew side is our online crew contracting system. This system makes recruitment, contracting, and onboarding processes faster, more transparent, and paperless, offering significant convenience for both the company and seafarers.

Safety, environmental responsibility, and ethical standards form the foundation of all our operations. In our operational decisions, safety remains our top priority; we integrate practices aimed at reducing environmental impact into our processes and adopt a professional, transparent, and responsible business model with all our stakeholders. For us, quality is not only about the result of the service but also about how the service is delivered.

How does your sustainability approach reflect on daily operations?

Sustainability is not merely a communication headline for GN Group; it is an inseparable part of our operational strategy. As stated in our company vision, we aim to lead the maritime sector through innovation and sustainable practices. Within this framework, we invest in efficiency-focused operational management, digitalization, and process optimization to reduce our environmental footprint.

Especially with the implementation of digital platforms, we have made operational flow more visible and measurable. The digitalization of tracking, planning, and management processes contributes to improved resource utilization, reduced repetitive work, and more controlled operations. In addition, solutions such as our online crew contracting system, which supports paperless processes, are among the concrete examples of our sustainability approach.

Which areas and regions will you focus on in the coming period?

In the coming period, GN Group’s growth strategy will focus on strengthening our core business areas with higher value-added services. While deepening our expertise in ship management, chartering, technical services, and crew solutions, we see digital solutions, crew services, and operational efficiency-driven services as the main pillars of growth. Areas such as crew training, exclusive insurance brokerage, seamen air tickets, and crew recruitment also support this expansion strategy.

From a geographical perspective, our priorities include deepening our existing global operational network in more strategic regions, establishing new business partnerships, and becoming more visible across different trade corridors. We define growth not merely as fleet expansion, but as building stronger operational management, higher service quality, and a broader solution ecosystem.

What does successful project management mean to you?

As GN Group, we have successfully completed many remarkable projects under varying cargo types, changing market conditions, and multifaceted operational requirements. For us, outstanding projects are defined not only by the nature of the cargo transported but also by planning capability, operational coordination, commercial foresight, and long-term investment decisions.

The addition of four MPP (multi-purpose/project cargo capable) vessels to our fleet in recent years is a significant indication that our company is growing not only operationally but also strategically. This investment clearly demonstrates GN Group’s confidence in the market, its long-term vision, and its determination to become a permanent player in the maritime industry.

We do not evaluate remarkable projects solely as one-time cargo movements. Fleet expansion decisions, the integration of new vessels into the operational system, the expansion of commercial routes, and providing stronger transportation capacity to customers are also important and concrete success projects from our perspective.

In this process, GN Group’s distinction lies in the ability of all departments — from the commercial team to the operations team, from technical management to crew planning — to work in harmony toward a common goal. Therefore, successful project management for us is not only about transporting cargo from one point to another but also about growing the company sustainably, strengthening the fleet, and continuously advancing our position in the market.

What is your five-year vision in terms of fleet size, digital transformation, and global positioning?

Over the next five years, we aim to position GN Group as a larger-scale, more digital, and more sustainable player in maritime transportation and ship management. Our goal is not only to expand fleet size and operational volume but also to become a structure that increases technology usage, manages processes more intelligently, and creates greater value for customers. The steps we have taken so far in digitalization and innovation provide a strong foundation for this objective.

We also want GN Group to be recognized as a group company associated with trust, efficiency, and a modern management approach in maritime, one that has expanded its global partnerships and strengthened both human resources and technology together. In short, our objective is not simply to become a growing company, but a maritime brand with stronger systems, higher service quality, and a more sustainable vision for the future.
