The market share of ULCS vessels is increasing.

Ultra Large Container Ships (ULCS) are set to surpass Neo-SubPanamax vessels in market share by the end of the year.

Alphaliner's latest newbuild delivery projection shows that ULCS vessels with a capacity of over 15,000 TEU will reach a total capacity of over 8.3 million TEU by the end of 2025.

At the same time, Neo-SubPanamax vessels, currently the market leader in total capacity with 5,100 to 10,000 TEU, will expand to just under 8.2 million TEU.

Looking ahead, demand for the largest vessels in the market is expected to push their total fleet capacity market share above 28%, while by the end of 2024, ULCS vessels are expected to account for about 23% of the global fleet.
