Drone Attacks in the Black Sea: Two Ships Targeted, One Sinks
Two vessels were targeted by three unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) off Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast. One ship sank, and six crew members were rescued.

A second attack on vessels off the Bulgarian coast has been reported within a week. Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev said the Malta-flagged Chelsea 3, owned by a Ukrainian company, was targeted by three unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) at around 01:30 local time. All crew members were rescued, including five who were injured.
Radev said a second vessel was attacked and sank 17 nautical miles east of Krapets, a village in Bulgaria’s Dobrich region. One crew member was rescued, while no information was provided on whether the other people aboard had survived.
Radev Summons Russian Ambassador to Sofia
In an address to the nation, Radev strongly condemned the attacks, describing another incident near Bulgarian territorial waters as “absolutely unacceptable”. He added that he would speak with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
Radev said there was no conclusive evidence identifying those responsible for the attacks, but stated that “the consequences of this attack are in the interest of the Russian Federation”.
Following the incidents, the Bulgarian prime minister summoned Russia’s ambassador to Sofia for a meeting.
