One of the most prestigious international gatherings in the global maritime industry, the 7th Bosphorus Shipbrokers’ Dinner, brought together leading figures of the world’s shipping community in Istanbul. Hosted by the Turkish Shipbrokers’ Association (GBD), the flagship event—widely recognized as an international showcase for the maritime sector—was successfully concluded with remarkable participation.

Months of meticulous planning by the GBD Board of Directors culminated in a world-class organization. The event was led by President Onur Türkeş, together with Vice President Serhan Özcan, Secretary General Murat Hılkın, Treasurer Ender Demirtabak, and Board Members Öner Dandin, Yanay Germen, Nevzat Sonay Üler, Victoria Kıran, Engin Koçak, Eftihia Mesounte Tasimoglou, Fatma Berrak Çimen Türkeri, and Deniz Ergin, whose collective efforts brought this ambitious vision to life.

“Turkish Shipbrokers Are on Their Way to Becoming a Global Brand”

Addressing the guests during the opening ceremony, Onur Türkeş, President of the Turkish Shipbrokers’ Association, emphasized the importance of unity and solidarity within the maritime community. Highlighting the growing influence of Turkish shipbrokers in international markets, Türkeş stated that the Association’s ultimate goal is to establish Turkish shipbrokers as globally recognized brands.

“With this strength and unity, we will continue to represent our country at the highest level of international maritime trade,” he said.

Emphasis on Global Risks and International Cooperation

Speaking at the event, Tamer Kıran, Chairman of the Board of the Chamber of Shipping (IMEAK DTO), drew attention to the increasing geopolitical tensions affecting global maritime trade. He stressed that promoting peace, stability, and stronger international cooperation has become more critical than ever for the sustainable development of the shipping industry.

The event was also attended by Üsküdar Mayor Sinem Dedetaş, who has devoted many years of her professional career to the maritime sector.

Although unable to attend in person due to his busy schedule, Ünal Baylan, Director General of Maritime Affairs, delivered a special video message congratulating the organizers on the successful event. Baylan reaffirmed the Turkish government’s continued support for the maritime industry and extended his best wishes to all participants.

The GBD Board expressed its sincere appreciation to both Tamer Kıran and Ünal Baylan for their valuable contributions and inspiring messages.

The evening also paid tribute to the organizations that supported this landmark event.
