Maximum Alert for Turkish Vessels
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that, due to Israel’s attacks, the security level for Turkish-flagged ships calling at Iranian ports and navigating the Strait of Hormuz has been raised to the highest level.

Following Israel’s attacks on Iran, Minister Uraloğlu made a statement regarding recent developments in the region. He explained that a new decision was made to ensure the safety of Turkish-flagged vessels.
“We have raised the security level to 3 under ISPS so Turkish-flagged ships can be prepared for potential threats”
Uraloğlu stated that the security level for Turkish-flagged ships calling at Iranian ports and sailing through the Strait of Hormuz has been raised to the highest level. “To ensure Turkish-flagged ships are prepared for potential security threats, we have raised the security level to 3 under the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code,” he said.
He emphasized that, as of June 17, the decision was implemented to help Turkish-flagged ships prepare for possible threats, take necessary precautions while in port, and receive early warnings.
“Loading and unloading operations may be temporarily suspended”
Providing details about the measures to be implemented under Security Level 3, Uraloğlu said: “Under the ship security plan, the vessel will implement the highest level of security measures in cooperation with the port facility. Loading and unloading operations on the ship may be temporarily suspended. Additionally, during the delivery of supplies, provisions, and similar items, materials will be more thoroughly inspected, and deliveries may be limited or postponed. If necessary, the delivery of materials to the ship may be completely denied.”
He also noted that access to the ship may be restricted to a single, controlled entry point, only authorized personnel will be allowed onboard, crew members will be directed accordingly, and entry and exit to the ship may be temporarily halted.
“Restricted areas may be searched”
The ship’s captain may increase security measures for restricted areas onboard. “In this context, additional restricted areas near a security incident or perceived threat may be designated, those areas may be searched, and access to the entire ship may be limited,” Uraloğlu explained.
“Surveillance equipment will be kept at maximum recording capacity”
Uraloğlu added that security measures around the ship will include both electronic and physical precautions. “To ensure ship security, all lights must be turned on to illuminate the ship’s surroundings, and all surveillance equipment recording activities around the ship must be operational. The recording duration of this equipment will also be kept at maximum capacity,” he said.
