The rescued migrants were taken to the French city of Boulogne-sur-Mer, while 11 people were reported to have suffered minor injuries. The prosecutor’s office launched an investigation into the incident, while one Egyptian national reportedly linked to the incident was detained. French authorities stated that the boat had departed from France last night.
The 173 people in question were recorded as the highest number of migrants intercepted on a single boat.
