YILPORT to Invest €100 Million in Leixões Port

YILPORT is launching a major investment plan for the North Container Terminal at Leixões Port, one of Portugal’s key trade hubs.

The €100 million investment will focus on expanding the terminal’s infrastructure and increasing its operational capacity. Once completed, the project is expected to add 130,000 TEU to the terminal’s annual container handling capacity.

Terminal to be modernized

The investment will include improvements to the terminal’s infrastructure and operational capabilities. The project is expected to enable Leixões Port to respond more effectively to growing container volumes while improving operational efficiency.

Currently operated by YILPORT, the North Container Terminal has a 360-metre quay, a 6-hectare terminal area and an annual handling capacity of 170,000 TEU. The terminal is equipped with two ship-to-shore cranes and four yard cranes.

The new investment is aimed at increasing the terminal’s capacity while creating a more modern and efficient operating structure.

Strengthening Leixões’ container capacity

The investment forms part of broader efforts to strengthen container-handling capacity at Leixões Port.

YILPORT’s investment is expected to enhance the port’s ability to meet the growing needs of the logistics chains it serves while strengthening the region’s trade infrastructure.

Alongside the capacity increase, the project is expected to improve operational efficiency and competitiveness, while also contributing to employment in the region.

YILPORT’s investment in Leixões represents another significant step in the company’s strategy to further develop its container terminal operations in Portugal.
