The attack triggered a fire that curtailed shipment capacity, with Tatneft reported as the company most affected by the production cuts. According to Reuters sources, the strike occurred late Sunday near the Kaleykino station outside Almetyevsk, more than 1,200 kilometers from the Russia–Ukraine border. Two storage tanks, each with a capacity of 50,000 tons, were destroyed in the blaze.

Damage Assessment at Strategic Hub

Kaleykino is a critical hub for crude flows from Western Siberia and the Volga region to Russia’s main export pipelines. Built in the 1970s, the facility blends crude grades before sending them through the Druzhba pipeline to key western ports such as Novorossiysk and Primorsk. It also supplies several local refineries.

Industry sources say the full extent of the damage is still being assessed, but the disruption could affect both the volume and quality of Russia’s export blends.

Local Authorities’ Statement

Almetyevsk officials reported that air defense systems shot down several drones over the region, with debris sparking fires in the industrial zone. Authorities did not provide details on possible damage to the Druzhba pipeline.

The incident is the latest in a series of attacks targeting the Druzhba line, which supplies crude to Hungary and Slovakia. Both countries have previously accused Kyiv of attempting to disrupt flows to their refineries.
