Houthis Strike Cargo Ship in Bab el-Mandeb Strait: 3 Killed

It was reported that Houthi militants in Yemen carried out an attack on a cargo ship in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The report, citing Yemeni government and coast guard sources, also stated that three people were killed. The fate of the crew remains unknown.

The Iran-backed Houthis announced on July 20 that they had “begun imposing a naval blockade” against Saudi Arabia.

In a statement, the group’s Military Spokesman Seri accused Saudi Arabia of “imposing a comprehensive blockade on the Yemeni people for nearly 12 years, plundering the country’s resources, and besieging the ports and airports by land, sea, and air, pushing the suffering of the people to an unbearable point.”
