DGM: We Are Renewing Our National Merchant Fleet
The Directorate General of Maritime Affairs (DGM) has taken another significant step in the renewal and modernization of Turkey’s national merchant fleet.
Akbaşoğlu Shipping announced that a new certificate has been issued under the scrap incentive program for the construction of a new chemical tanker.
In its statement, the DGM emphasized that the goal is to rejuvenate Turkey’s merchant fleet and strengthen its international competitiveness. Officials highlighted that the scrap incentive program carries great importance both for environmental sustainability and economic efficiency.
The announcement included the following call:
“We invite all shipowners to benefit from this incentive and contribute to our merchant fleet.”
This initiative is regarded as a strategic move to add modern, eco-friendly, and highly efficient vessels to Turkey’s fleet. The new chemical tanker to be built is expected to set an example in terms of compliance with international standards and the rejuvenation of the national fleet.
