Measuring 228 meters in length and 42 meters in width, the ship arrived in Mersin three days ago, marking its first stop in the Mediterranean. After anchoring approximately one nautical mile off the coast of Taşucu, the vessel entered the port during the night following a three-day wait.

Ranked among the world’s most advanced seventh-generation deep-sea drilling ships, West Draco is capable of drilling up to 12,000 meters. Now part of the Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) fleet, the ship will undergo necessary technical procedures at the port before commencing its drilling operations.

Meanwhile, West Dorado—known as the twin of West Draco and registered as Turkey’s sixth drilling vessel—is expected to set sail in the near future.
