Istanbul Model: Turkish Airlines and Galataport Unite in Miami
Turkish Airlines and Galataport Istanbul are joining forces once again at Seatrade Cruise Global, one of the world’s most prestigious cruise tourism events

The fair will take place in Miami from April 13–16, 2026, where Istanbul’s “homeport” potential and the flight + port integration will be showcased to international stakeholders.
In 2025, Turkey welcomed 2.13 million cruise passengers, highlighting the sector’s strong momentum. By 2026, Galataport Istanbul’s homeport passenger numbers are set to triple compared to 2024, achieving for the first time a 50% homeport – 50% transit balance.
This milestone positions Istanbul not only as a stopover but as a starting and ending hub for global cruise itineraries. The so-called “Istanbul Model” combines Turkish Airlines’ extensive flight network with Galataport’s operational strength, adding a new competitive dimension to the city’s cruise tourism.
The two brands will share a joint stand at the fair, aiming to attract more cruise companies to include Istanbul in their routes. Turkish Airlines will highlight its global connectivity, particularly to the U.S. market, which accounts for 25% of Galataport’s cruise passengers.
Beyond short-term growth, this collaboration reflects a broader vision to shape the dynamics of Istanbul’s cruise tourism well into the 2030s.
