Following the successful completion of two-stage sea trials, Neoliner Origin has been made ready for delivery and will begin service on the transatlantic route between France and the USA—including the ports of Saint Nazaire, Baltimore, Halifax, and Saint-Pierre et Miquelon—as of October 2025.

136 meters in length, Neoliner Origin stands as a pioneering sailing Ro-Ro vessel that harnesses wind energy as its principal means of propulsion, achieving a reduction in fossil fuel consumption in maritime transport by more than 80% compared to an equivalent conventional ship. With its expansive 3,000 m² sail area, a dedicated crew of 20, and accommodation for 12 passengers, Neoliner Origin seamlessly unites advanced maritime engineering with a commitment to sustainability. The vessel is outfitted with two foldable carbon fiber masts, each soaring to a height of 90 meters, enabling optimal use of wind power. Thanks to its advanced smart sensor systems, Neoliner Origin is able to autonomously analyze wind and sea conditions, charting the most efficient course across the oceans with remarkable precision. With the capacity to carry approximately 500 vehicles or 265 TEU containers and a maximum cargo load of 5,300 tons, the vessel distinguishes itself as a leader in its class. On transoceanic journeys, this innovative sailing Ro-Ro vessel has the potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90%, while entirely eliminating sulfur oxide and nitrogen oxide emissions, setting a new benchmark for environmentally responsible shipping.

Dr. Utku Alanç, CEO of RMK Marine, emphasized the company’s vision for the future of maritime innovation: “As the only shipyard in Türkiye to realize the wind-powered sailing Ro-Ro vessel project, we are honored to deliver the world’s first sailing Ro-Ro vessel—an exemplary achievement on a global scale. By developing high-tech, innovative projects and building vessels that adapt to evolving international standards and harness wind energy, we are committed to shaping the future of maritime sustainability.”
