Phoenix Register of Shipping (PHRS) is an independent classification society founded in Greece in 2000, dedicated to ship classification and statutory certification services. With a mission centered on maritime safety, environmental protection, and regulatory compliance, PHRS operates with high standards of integrity and professionalism. The organization’s commitment to safeguarding life at sea, protecting property, and preserving the marine environment is evident in its customer-oriented service philosophy and technical expertise.
Digital Transformation and Technology
A major pillar of PHRS’s strategy is digital transformation. The organization has developed Archimedes Info, an award-winning Management Information System (MIS) designed to digitalize and optimize the entire certification process. From managing survey requests and data entry to analysis and digital certificate issuance, Archimedes Info ensures full traceability and operational transparency. Fleet managers and shipowners benefit from real-time access to inspection records, compliance indicators, and historical data, allowing for data-driven decision-making and proactive fleet oversight. Complementing this system is the PHRS e-Application (E-App), a user-friendly online platform that allows clients to request surveys, monitor application status, and receive real-time updates.
Environmental Leadership and Green Transition
As the maritime sector undergoes a green transition, PHRS plays a proactive role in supporting shipowners to meet evolving environmental regulations. The Marine Environmental Sustainability Department, is supporting the implementation of emission reduction strategies, adoption of SEEMP best practices, and integration of technologies such as ballast water treatment systems and scrubbers. Accredited for both EU MRV and the new Fuel_EU Maritime regulation, PHRS is assessing CO₂ emissions reports and evaluate compliance with upcoming fuel efficiency standards, reinforcing its leadership in environmental compliance.
Strategic Expansion in Türkiye
PHRS’s expansion into Türkiye reflects its strategic vision. With a regional office located in Istanbul’s Kartal district, PHRS provides direct access to its full range of services for Turkish shipowners and operators. This office, certified to ISO 9001:2015 by BSI under the PHRS Quality Management System, ensures high service quality and fast response times. Türkiye’s strategic importance as a maritime hub is well known, with the Turkish Straits handling over 40,000 vessel transits annually and the country hosting major shipyards and trading ports. PHRS actively engages with the local maritime community, supporting initiatives in decarbonization and digitalization while ensuring compliance with international standards.
