Historic Nuclear Energy Cooperation Between Türkiye and the United States

This agreement marks a new chapter in the deep-rooted partnership between the two nations, elevating their collaboration to a new level in the fields of advanced technology and energy security.

The memorandum was signed during a pivotal meeting at the White House between President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and U.S. President Donald Trump. Minister Bayraktar, who attended the meeting, emphasized the strategic significance of the agreement with the following remarks:

“We participated in the meeting between our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and U.S. President Mr. Donald Trump at the White House. Following this historic encounter, we signed the Strategic Civil Nuclear Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding in the presence of both leaders, together with U.S. Secretary of State Mr. Marco Rubio. This step will strengthen Türkiye’s global vision in the field of nuclear energy and usher in a new era of technology-driven cooperation between our countries. I firmly believe that the initiatives to be undertaken in the coming period will contribute significantly to Türkiye’s energy transformation and to our strategic partnership with the United States.”

Through this cooperation, Türkiye aims to make a major leap forward in enhancing energy supply security and achieving its carbon-neutral targets. The agreement also envisions the development of sustainable, innovative, and internationally compliant nuclear technologies.
