The U.S. military has added another operation to its campaign targeting drug cartels involved in maritime trafficking. In a statement, U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) said that, on the orders of SOUTHCOM Commander General Francis L. Donovan, an operation was carried out against a vessel in the Caribbean that was identified as carrying narcotics. The statement emphasized that intelligence had confirmed the vessel was transporting drugs and said that four “narco-terrorists” were killed in the operation.

“We Are Determined to End Cartel Terror”

SOUTHCOM Commander General Francis L. Donovan said the military would continue carrying out precise and lethal strikes against cartels.

“We will destroy, dismantle and defeat these narco-terrorist networks,” Donovan said. “SOUTHCOM remains committed to ending cartel terror and violence throughout the region and along the routes extending to the U.S. homeland.”
