New RAstar 2800 Escort Tug by MED MARINE
MED MARINE has launched a new RAstar 2800 Terminal–Escort Tug, built at Ereğli Shipyard in late November.
Designed for high capability, refined handling, and operational strength, the vessel offers a confident balance of power and precision for demanding terminal operations.
The 28-metre multi-purpose escort tug MED-A2800 delivers 85 tonnes of Bollard Pull, enabling authority in ship handling, escort duties, coastal towage, pushing, and mooring operations. Fully compliant with Class FIFI-1, it also provides advanced firefighting capability.
Equipped with forward and aft winches and an aft towing hook, the tug ensures seamless performance. Its Azimuth Stern Drive (ASD) propulsion system, powered by two diesel engines and Z-drive units with fixed-pitch propellers, delivers both high bollard pull and exceptional manoeuvrability.
Constructed in durable welded steel, the vessel features watertight bulkheads dividing zones for accommodation, fresh water, the engine room, fuel storage, Z-drive compartment, and aft peak tanks—ensuring safety and structural integrity.
