Koç Holding Orders Giant LPG Carrier for $119 Million
Aygaz, one of the key subsidiaries of Koç Holding, has taken a strategic step to expand its presence in the growing liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) transportation sector.

The company has placed an order worth $119 million (approximately 5 billion Turkish Lira) with South Korea’s renowned HD Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries for the construction of a large-scale LPG carrier.
Driven by the increasing global trade of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and LPG in recent years, Aygaz—already operating filling facilities in İzmir Aliağa—aims to strengthen its fleet with a Very Large Gas Carrier (VLGC), one of the highest-capacity vessels in gas transportation.
The agreement for the dual-fuel LPG carrier was signed in December, and the vessel is expected to be acquired by a wholly owned subsidiary of Koç Holding. The delivery is scheduled for the second quarter of 2028, with payments to be made in installments leading up to the handover.
This investment underscores Aygaz’s commitment to enhancing its competitiveness in the global energy trade and supporting its sustainable growth strategy.
