SeaTechnic Marine Electronics Owner Sedat Okumus, who says, "Our priority is always to meet their needs in the shortest possible time and in the most economical way while providing solutions to our customers," states that 80% of their customer portfolio consists of foreign shipowners and service companies operating abroad. Stating that they also serve the domestic market with the pandemic, Okumuş says that they aim to open branches in Canada and America in 2022.
Sedat Okumuş, Owner of SeaTechnic Deniz Elektronik company, which provides marine electronics services to the sector, underlined that there are products that have been increasingly demanded recently and said: “As a company, we provide sales, service and maintenance services of all kinds of navigation, communication and safety devices regardless of brand. In addition, we also provide services on VSAT, satellite communication systems, IP phone systems, CCTV, and IT network system installation. We also perform fault maintenance and repair of Engine Deck automation systems. We produce solutions for the demands of our customers, such as the installation of VSAT systems, VDR Retrofit projects, Ecdis Retrofit projects, in parallel with the technologies that have developed recently. While providing solutions to our customers, our priority is always to solve their needs as soon as possible and in the most economical way.
We offer technical service to all devices regardless of brand
Stating that they provide sales, service, and maintenance services for all Navcom devices regardless of brand, Okumuş said, "Let me try to explain an incident that I observed while working in authorized and distributor companies: Sometimes the navigation and communication systems on ships are not equipped by a single brand or distributor company. Due to this situation, our customers may have to work with different companies for two different brands of devices on their ships. Therefore, this situation reflects on them as an extra service cost. We provide one-stop service and maintenance to our customers with our 20 years of experience. We are able to supply the original spare parts and materials needed as soon as possible through our partners abroad”.
We continue to work to get the representation of new brands
Talking about the companies that they represent or distribute, Okumus said, “Currently, we are the Turkey representative of Mac Gregor (Interschalt) company. Interschalt is the manufacturer of VDR and SVDR devices that German shipowners have used on their ships for years. In addition, we are the representative of the SRC brand, which has products such as Epirb, Sart, VHF, and Hand VHF originating in South Korea. We are also the representative of Slovenian origin Ship Security Alert (SSAS), Long Range Identification Tracking (LRIT) BluTraker company. And our partnership with Voyager IP on Airtime continues. We will be working on new representations until the end of the year.”
80% of our customer portfolio consists of foreigners
Stating that they have mainly served abroad before and that they have started to provide more services to domestic companies with the pandemic recently, Okumuş said, "While we were establishing our company in 2015, we focused on foreign shipowners and international services due to the slowdown of new construction projects in Turkey and the crisis that occurred. Over time, the projects we realized with our foreign customers helped us gain new customers. During the current pandemic, we have helped our foreign customers to carry out the shipyard periods of their ships at the shipyards in Turkey. In 2020, we carried out VDR, Radar, Speed Log, and Echsounder Retrofit projects for approximately 20 ships. As a result of this, our dialogues with the shipyards in Tuzla and Yalova increased and we started to receive demands from the domestic market. Despite this, 80% of our customer portfolio consists of foreign shipowners and overseas service companies”.
Sedat Okumuş, who has signed important projects abroad, said, “In 2017, we established a company with four partners abroad to compete with the main supplier companies of the sector and to offer alternative Navcom package solutions to our shipyards in new construction projects. We worked as suppliers and subcontractors in new shipbuilding projects in Turkey and Romania. In addition, we provided technical service and material supply in important marinas in the Adriatic region such as Montenegro, Albania, and Croatia. In 2020, I left the partnership in order to direct all my concentration to the future of my own company and we are currently continuing our activities in Turkey as SeaTechnic Deniz Elektronik.”
In 2022, the target is to branch out in Canada and the USA
Stating that they aim to open branches in Canada and America in 2022, Okumuş explained why they are planning in America and the importance of this branch. Okumuş said, “Our preliminary work continues. We are planning to open offices in Vancouver, Canada, and New Haven, which has access to the ports of New York and Boston in the USA. We will activate our new branches with the team to be established under the leadership of my brother, who is a long-distance engineer. We aim to meet all kinds of technical equipment and service needs of Turkish ships sailing on the East and West sides of the American continent.
Stating that they continue to serve and develop 24/7 with their young and dynamic staff, Okumuş said, “As SeaTechnic Deniz Elektronik company, I would like to state that we can offer alternative solutions to all shipowners and shipyards in both new construction and Retrofit projects and service requests.”
