Through this collaboration, AVS Global aims to build a sustainable and innovative business model by expanding the reach of Moravia’s 100% locally produced paint products across both domestic and international markets. This partnership holds significance not only in commercial terms but also in fostering sectoral knowledge exchange, technical cooperation, and the global representation of local industry.

AVS Global’s extensive distribution network and industry experience, combined with Moravia’s deep-rooted manufacturing legacy and high-quality products, are expected to create a strong synergy in both local and global markets.

About Moravia

Founded in 1863 in Trieste, Italy, Moravia is recognized as one of the world’s first producers of antifouling (toxic) marine paints. The brand gained international prominence in the 1930s when its products were adopted by the U.S. Navy. Moravia began manufacturing in Turkey in 1963 and has operated entirely with Turkish capital since 1974, continuing production at its facilities in Istanbul. Today, Moravia stands as one of Turkey’s most established domestic manufacturers of marine coatings, offering a wide range of products including epoxy, polyurethane, synthetic, and acrylic systems.

Highlights from the Event

The event drew strong interest from students. Moravia Turkey executives—Dr. Sinan Okumuş (General Manager), Ali Akçalı (International Sales Manager), and Yılmaz Özkaya (Domestic Sales Manager)—delivered a comprehensive presentation covering Moravia’s production processes, product diversity, the importance of local manufacturing, and applications within the maritime sector.

At the end of the program, Moravia distributed gifts to the students and a group photo was taken. This interaction provided a meaningful opportunity for young maritime professionals to engage directly with industry leaders.

Remarks on the Partnership

Dr. Sinan Okumuş, General Manager of Moravia Turkey, commented on the collaboration:

“Through this partnership, we aim to combine our local manufacturing strength with AVS Global’s international network to reach broader markets. It’s a significant step toward raising sectoral awareness and delivering our high-quality products to more users.”

Abdülvahit Şimşek, Chairman of the Board at AVS Global, added:

“As a company that prioritizes domestic and national production, we are proud to work with a well-established and trusted manufacturer like Moravia. We are pleased to offer our customers the products of this strong Turkish brand and will continue to provide sustainable and high-quality solutions to our suppliers and partners.”

Union Participation and Plaque Ceremony

The event was also attended by representatives of the International Maritime Workers’ Union (IMU), including President Ramazan Duman, Vice President Nizam Demir, and Secretary General Attorney Ayşen Baykan. In her address to the students, Baykan emphasized the importance of union solidarity, professional awareness, and the future of the maritime industry.

At the conclusion of the event, IMU presented appreciation plaques to AVS Global Chairman Abdülvahit Şimşek and Ekol Maritime General Manager Mutlu Arslan. The plaque on behalf of AVS Global was received by Mutlu Arslan.

This meaningful gathering not only served as a bridge between the industry and educational institutions but also marked a strong beginning for the partnership between AVS Global and Moravia, promising valuable contributions to the maritime sector.
