MED MARINE Delivers Two Next-Generation Tugboats to Panama
MED MARINE has successfully delivered two TRAktor 2600-Z series tugboats, built for global maritime operator SVITZER.

The delivery ceremony for these state-of-the-art tugboats, named ISLA POPA and ISLA UVA, was held in Istanbul at the end of August. Built at MED MARINE’s Ereğli Shipyard, these next-generation vessels are now en route to Panama’s busy ports, where they will provide safe and efficient towage services.
This delivery marks an important milestone as it is the first time MED MARINE has completed the construction of TRAktor 2600-Z model tugboats for SVITZER. Both MED-T2600 tugboats were launched according to the planned schedule, once again demonstrating the company’s engineering capabilities, production discipline, and commitment to quality.
Specifically designed to serve tankers, bulk carriers, and container ships, these 25.9-meter tugboats offer a powerful bollard pull of 65 tons, thanks to their advanced hull form and propulsion system. Their design has been optimized to ensure high manoeuvrability, directional stability, and fuel efficiency under the challenging conditions of Panama’s ports.
With the successful delivery of ISLA POPA and ISLA UVA, MED MARINE has once again proven its expertise in building high-performance, tailor-made tugboats that meet the evolving needs of leading maritime operators worldwide. These vessels are not only valuable additions to the fleet, but also tangible symbols of the strong collaboration between MED MARINE and SVITZER, and their shared vision of operational excellence.
