Karadeniz Holding Makes Bold Entry into U.S. Market with Texas Shipyard Acquisition
Karadeniz Holding, owner of the world’s largest fleet of energy ships, has made a strategic move into the U.S. by acquiring a 240-acre shipyard in Brownsville, Texas for $50 million. The purchase was made through its subsidiary, Karpower Valley LLC.

The facility was sold by Singapore-based Seatrium Ltd. Located along the Brownsville Ship Channel, the shipyard specializes in offshore and marine engineering projects, including rig repairs and vessel conversions.
Karpowership, a global energy operator under Karadeniz Holding, currently owns 50 floating power plants supplying electricity to rapidly growing markets across Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America.
Seatrium stated that the proceeds from the sale will strengthen its balance sheet and support projects in liquefied natural gas, offshore wind, and next-generation rig designs.
With deepwater access and proximity to Mexico, the Port of Brownsville is becoming an increasingly strategic location for companies seeking to expand cross-border operations—making this acquisition a key step in Karadeniz Holding’s global expansion strategy.
